I work with the concept of the road as a migratory transit route. The person who changes his place of residence for a different one is called a migrant. The migrant tries to find a new place where he can find better living conditions, these journeys have been defined in the history of humanity as nomadism; Although today there are other causes such as migration triggers, political, socio-economic reasons and search for places that comply with conditions of peace and civility that their places of residence do not cover, displacement has not changed much, this contemporary nomadism is a phenomenon worldwide with multiple consequences. In this migration process, the migrant faces lexical-semantic changes, which isolate him as an entity without identity.

 

Without belongings or papers that identify it, it is reduced to its corporality as the only belonging. Isothermal blankets have been popularized for their use as part of the first aid to migrants rescued or received in foreign territory, although these receipts are contrasted with clear messages in the migration policies of the recipient, they, the migrants, intend to see This territory as your new home.

 

The blanket is intervened with a design made from the routes used by Latin American migrants to cross Mexico in order to reach the United States. These routes are sea, land and on the freight train better known as "The Beast." The patterns come from flow images, data from migratory geographical maps combined with the displacement routes that I have reconfigured as welcome mats.
